Star-studded Delhi drubbed Orissa by an innings and 215 runs on the last day of their four-day Ranji Trophy quarterfinal math at Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi today. This was 56th overall loss in 111 Ranji Trophy matches for Orissa and first defeat in the only match against Delhi.
Opting to bat after captain Asjit Jayaprakasham won the toss, Orissa made a modest total of 161 with the help of a knock of 35 by the captain. Manoj Prabhakar ran through the Orissa innings like a knife in the butter, bagging six wickets for 65 runs.
In reply, Delhi rode on a century each by Manu Nayar, Raman Lamba, Ajay Sharma and Kirti Azad to declare their first innins at 638 for six. Sushil Prasad was most successful Orissa bowler, taking three wickets for 220 runs.
After conceding a first-innings lead of 477 runs, Orissa displayed better batting performance in the second innings before folding up for 262. Soumitra Chowdhury and Jayaprakasham hit a half-century each for Orissa.
